Day 18

It is so hard to believe that 18 days have past since I retired from RBC.  This past week I kept myself busy with shoveling snow, putting Christmas lights on the outside of the house, running errands and cleaning out my office.   I found myself on the roof with lots of snow so I made sure that I was not one of the people that Mona always talks about.  I did not want her to be using me as an example of someone falling off the roof while decorating.  There would have been no disability income for me as I am no longer employed.  Listen to Mona when she talks about the importance of being “protected.”

I also had the chance to talk to one of my great friends in Colorado and discuss what he is doing with the mission agency that he is working for.  It was great to catch up and learn about all the great things going on.

Friday morning was the first time that I really missed being at work.  I almost felt lost on Friday morning, not knowing exactly what I was supposed to be doing.  Then I went out for lunch with a friend and everything kind of felt “right” again.

Today I was cleaning out my wallet and found a few business cards.. Every time I see something associated with RBC I am reminded of the wonderful career I had as well as the fact that I was blessed to work for the world’s best company.  For those of you who are still working for RBC never lose sight of the fact that we are so blessed to be associated with OUR company.

In the next few days I will be tearing out the carpet out of my office and getting ready for the next stage of Roxanne’s closet.  As work progresses I will share some pictures.

As mentioned in previous postings W Network is showing amazing Christmas movies, this past week I have watched more than I probably should have but they are great.

I am also reading “Red Famine, Stalin’s War on Ukraine”  It is a powerful read.  I am going to try to read at least one book per month.  That is one thing that I missed so much while working.  I used to love to read and I have fallen way behind in reading all the books I have.

The Grey Cup game comes to Edmonton this week, so it will allow for lots of activity in the city.  I trust that some of you will be able to enjoy the activities.  Have a great week everyone.
