Today is November 1, 2018. This morning I woke up as usual close to 6:00 am, but today was very different. Today I did not “get” to go to work. It has never been about “having” to go to work it has always been about “getting” to go to work. For the first time since I started with RBC on July 4, 1985 I did not get to go to work. Today was my first day of retirement. I have no idea what to expect. The last several months have been very special and on Monday night the Bank held a great retirement event for me. Lots of fun and wonderful memories made.
I have no idea about writing a Blog, but I replied to a question from one of my colleagues about 6 weeks ago when she asked “Gord what are you going to do?” I replied and said “Mona I am going to write a Blog”. So over the coming days, weeks, months, and even years I hope I will be able to share many wonderful thoughts and be able to continue to impact people as I have done in the past many years.
I have learned during the last few months how much impact I have had. I could not have imagined it would have been so wide-spread. It has reminded me that we are here for a short time, and we must use our time to the fullest.
I thank you for taking the time to read and for going on this journey with me. I have no specific item I will Blog about, but today I am proud to say RBC was absolutely amazing and now I am “The Retired Banker”.
